Ark's new Smart Photo Finder takes the guesswork out of choosing your best dating profile photos. Once you grant access to your photo library, Smart Photo Finder scans your gallery and organizes everything into a ranked album — your strongest photos first.
Each photo is rated and scored based on:
- Lighting — is it clear and well-lit, or dim and hard to make out?
- Framing — are you the clear subject of the photo?
- Image quality — sharpness, resolution, and overall visual clarity
- Photo recency — older photos get flagged so your profile stays current
Photos with glasses, closed eyes, heavy filters, or other lower-scoring traits are automatically moved to the bottom of the list. The feature will also remind you if a photo is older, since a recent picture does a better job of representing who you are today.

How to Use Smart Photo Finder (It's Free)
Getting started takes less than two minutes:
- Open the Ark app and go to My Profile > Profile Photos
- Tap any image or placeholder photo
- Select Smart Photo Finder (NEW)
- Allow full or limited access to your Photo Library
- Take a quick selfie so the app can identify the best photos of you in your library
- Watch your top options appear — sorted, scored, and ready to review
Tips for Choosing a Great Dating Profile Photo
Smart Photo Finder will do the heavy lifting, but a little intentionality goes a long way. Here's what tends to make a strong dating profile photo:
- Use a recent photo. If someone matches with you and meets you in person, your photos should look like you — not a version of you from five years ago.
