Notes make conversation a little bit easier because you can comment directly on any aspect of someone’s profile. This can help start a conversation more organically and takes the pressure off you to come up with a perfect opening line. Notes sent are 2x as likely to result in a long conversation! For example, let’s say that you see a picture on someone’s profile with their dog. You love dogs and want to learn more about theirs., Instead of trying to find a way to bring it up in conversation, leave a Note directly on their dog picture. Character traits help you see, at a glance, what you have in common with others. Being able to see the traits that you have in common with others can help take your swiping from “window shopping” to focused, curated dating.

Each of these traits has multiple sub-options to identify with. You can choose which ones will show up on your profile for others to see. Keep in mind that hiding traits means that they won’t show up when someone is looking at your profile, but you will still show up in people’s filtered searches.
At the top of each profile, the shared traits section will show you what traits you have in common with that person. Additionally, the shared trait icon at the bottom of the screen will show you how many traits and tags you have in common with them.
Filtering is what makes character traits really powerful. Premium users can sort through their swiping feed to only show the people with the characteristics that are most important to them.

Dealbreakers are those “make it or break it” traits. If you turn on a Dealbreaker when filtering, then profiles that don’t meet that criteria exactly will not show up in your swiping feed at all unless you turn off that filter.
If you use a filter without a Dealbreaker, then the people who fit your criteria most closely will show up first. When those people run out, you will then be shown people who sit just outside that criteria. Don’t be afraid to look outside your “usual” type! You never know, your soul mate could be the girl who’s two inches taller than you or the guy who’s three years younger than you.
